My teaching philosophy is simple. I remind my students that they possess agency. I help my students to find their voice. I create an inviting learning environment that fosters, and encourages creativity. I put cameras in students’ hands as quickly as is practical. I give them the technical knowledge they need to become story-tellers. My job is to couch my students to find within themselves their potential. My job as a film and television educator, as a mentor and professor, is to energise our students’ passions, to give them the power to believe that most limitations they face are in their imagination. My job is to challenge our students to use the technical and creative information they learn in my class and engage their inner vision and tell important and beautiful stories.
